Characterization of material constants of [111]c poled Mn:PIN-PMN-PT single crystals

The mechanical quality factor of [111]C polarized Mn:PIN-PMN-PT relaxor ferroelectric single crystals can reach 800, making them suitable for the characterization of their elastic and piezoelectric constants using the resonant ultrasound spectroscopy (RUS) technique. The high-temperature RUS system can be used to measure the ultrasonic resonant spectra of [111]C polarized Mn:PIN-PMN-PT single crystals at different temperatures. Several resonant frequencies can be identified from the spectra. Further, by using the inversion software XRUS Analyzer, the temperature dependent characteristics of all elastic and piezoelectric constants can be obtained. Since all the constants are derived from the same sample, the self- consistency of the characterization results is ensured.
